Time to Begin Again

For those of us living in the USA, we have had some tumultuous times with the way the world has gone lately. It creates a lot of unknown, uncertainty and anxiety.

I can get caught up sometimes in the moment if I allow myself to get sucked into the drama.

What I have realized is that there is always a time to begin again and hit the reset button.

The reason for today’s encouraging word is that I really feel we need to hear and refocus back on what God has for us in this new season. As a Mindset Coach I know too well how our thoughts feed our feelings and actions. So it’s important to get a grip before we lose the plot!

No matter what the circumstances look like or feel like, it can be hard to see the wood for the trees when you are stuck in the middle of it.

I wanted to offer you some encouragement today to say that it is time to begin again!

You can begin again in the way that you think with your mindsets, your priorities and your decisions going forward.

Let me read from my favorite version of the Bible, The Message Bible:

Isaiah 52 says:

“1 Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor, Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again.
2 Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, Daughter Zion, now a captive.
3 For this is what the Lord says:
“You were sold for nothing, and without money, you will be redeemed.”
4 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“At first my people went down to Egypt to live; lately, Assyria has oppressed them.
5 “And now what do I have here?” declares the Lord.
“For my people have been taken away for nothing, and those who rule them mock, ”declares the Lord.“And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed.
6 Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day, they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I.”
7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the Lord returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes.
9 Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the Lord has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.
10 The Lord will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.”

God’s Word never changes. It’s the same yesterday, today and tomorrow; even if our circumstances change. He does not change his mind. It’s good to know that God is always working out things for our good. He has a plan, even though it can sometimes feel like we don’t know what that plan looks like.

Let me encourage you today that no matter where you are, no matter what your circumstances are, spend some time in the Word. Really start to ask yourself, what am I hearing? What do I need to do?

It’s a matter of being resolute and steadfast, holding onto the promises and the words God has given you. He speaks all the time within your heart, especially when you have a Holy Spirit within you. We allow the noise and the news of the world to drown that out and people get themselves in such a tizzy.

This reminds me of growing up in South Africa, where we had to get used to having political instability. It was a wait and see approach. Then we had to just carry on, pull up our boots and keep going, no matter the situation.

Even though it might feel dark right now, there is always a dark period before the light.

I wanted to encourage you and tell you to keep pressing on. Press into the Lord and to find out what He has for you. You will see in time that things will calm down. Eventually, it will be revealed, the things that need to be dealt with. The things that we need to let go of.

We are in a new year, a new era and a new season, which is great! It’s a time for a do-over.

So let me encourage you to give yourself some time to begin again. Sit and write down your goals, or your aspirations, your thoughts and feelings. Start to process and just allow it all to work through you.
